Changing Your Mind

We live in a society which doesn’t promote the freeness of changing your mind, or changing your situation.  From a young age, we are asked to set the goal of our destination and guide our boat heedlessly towards it, our hand firmly on the tiller.  We get ourselves into situations we cannot extricate ourselves from, and we find we would like to change our mind, but it is frowned upon by others.  We give in to the herding instinct, the fear of going against what the masses say for fear of ex-communication and persecution.  We have the saying “you’ve made your bed, now you have to lie in it” but why should we put up with a situation we know isn’t right for us?  We need to think of ourselves as Goldilocks.  We may need to try a few different beds.  Go through the hard option and the soft option until, with experience, and though deliberation and connecting to our soul and knowing our path, we choose the one that is ‘just right’.  The one aligned to our soul.  It may be that the destination is the same as we imagined, but perhaps the journey to get there goes via a route we never dreamed of, or we may find ourselves in unchartered waters.  That’s the beauty of the soul journey!

What bed are you ‘laying in’ which isn’t aligned to your soul purpose?  Can you find the courage to try another one?

The Matrix

It has been quite a few years since the film ‘The Matrix’ was released.  This whole film is a great allegory for consciousness.  The characters in the film are living in the matrix – a fake world which only exists in their mind.  It has been created by the computers to occupy the people whilst they are being a human battery plant.  Then there are the select few, who have come out of the matrix, who see the illusion for what it is.  They learn to go inside and manipulate the matrix, to change it for their own benefit, and to break free from its limitations.

And so it is.  The matrix is where we live when we are not soul aware.  We are just ambling through our days, being more the victim of circumstance and not taking a part in how things are playing out.  When we choose to step out of this illusory world, when we take the red pill, we open up our consciousness to the realm of the soul.  We see the bigger picture in things and we become the master of our destiny.  We are able to change the illusory world for our benefit.  We are able to shape and create our reality.

Once we have opened to soul, we cannot go back to our old world.  We are freed from the matrix from that point onwards.  Try watching this film from this expanded perspective.  How far down the rabbit hole would you like to go?...

We all are icebergs under a cloudy sky

Just like icebergs, which have 80-85% of their mass hidden under the water, what we see when we look at a human body is only a small fraction of what comprises a total person.
We are more than our personality self – we also have a soul and a monad, and they are the true essence of who we really are.  Our personality self is just the vehicle for the soul to express itself through, and in the course of the ascension initiations the personality will be burnt up and replaced by full soul integration, subsequently being followed by monadic integration.  We are not a physical body having a soul experience, we are a soul having a physical experience.

When we look at our physical body, we see only the flesh and bones part.  We see the physical body breaking down with dis-ease.  However, like the iceberg, there is more to the human body than you can see on the surface.  We have an intricate subtle anatomy system comprised of chakras and layers of subtle bodies.  We have nadis lines and meridians.  All dis-ease in the physical body first comes from a disturbance in this subtle anatomy system.
When we think about our personality-self blundering about in the dark before it becomes soul aware, it is as if it is living under a cloudy sky.  Everything seems disconnected and confusing. We are unable to make sense of the larger picture of events unfolding in our lives and we feel very much alone.  However, imagine yourself in an airplane.  Once at a high altitude, the airplane is able to pass through the layer of cloud and pierce through to the glorious sunshine which awaits on the other side.  You can see the cloud far below and see things from a new perspective.

The same applies to consciousness.  If we can raise our consciousness to the plane of the soul, we are able to pierce through the dense layers of astral and lower metal patterns and we can start to live from the higher mental plane.  We are able to see the bigger picture in things and we no longer feel as if we are disconnected and alone.  We can see and feel the sunshine radiating out at the plane of soul and send the clarity of that vision down to the personality below the clouds so that it can be guided by the soul and be the vehicle for the soul’s expression on earth.

So when you think of the human body and personality, try to see past what you can see with your physical eyes and what you can experience with your senses.  See the bigger picture of the soul and monad behind the personality, guiding and supporting it.  See the levels of subtle anatomy vitalising the physical, and remember, we all are icebergs under a cloudy sky!

Attachments

Attachments to things, people and systems are something we need to look at when we are on the spiritual path.  We need to make sure that we have released our attachments.  You need to ask yourself: can you stand alone and be in your own light, by yourself alone, and provide for yourself?  If the answer is no, then you have an attachment.  This attachment is a neediness, it means that you can’t survive without an external force.  This external force could be a person, the government, a benefits system etc.  What we need to look at is the attachment to the need, and not the need itself.  It doesn’t mean that we have to live alone in poverty and have no friends, it is about having neediness for those things.  If you can stand in your own light you will be surrounded by the group, you won’t be alone or unsupported.  You will stand alone but be united.  You will then find a real strength where people aren’t leaning on each other for support.  Once someone starts to lean, the whole structure can fall.

Our relationships with others are often our biggest opportunities for learning.  Look at whether you have an unhealthy attachment in your close relationships.  Is there equal energy exchange, or is one person relying more on another to have their needs met?  This also extends to your emotional wellbeing.  I love this quote:

Happiness is a state of mind, not the state of a romantic relationship.  Happiness should be understood as something you have all the time, regardless of what your partner is doing.  You must not put the responsibility for your happiness on your partner.  It is your own responsibility.  This lesson has a lot to do with whether you have preferences or attachments regarding what your partner does.  If you have preferences, you can be happy no matter what.  If you have attachments, you will sometimes feel like a loser”. – Joshua David Stone, Soul Psychology.

Where are you up to with your attachments?  Is there some neediness that you can be addressing right now?  Release the ball and chain, you'll feel much lighter...

Circles of Light

There is an affirmation of the disciple (found here)  from the Lucis Trust which starts with “I am a point of light within a greater light”.  If you ponder on this statement, you find yourself immersed in circles of light.  It works on many levels:

Personality: I, the personality, am a point of light within a greater light which is the body of humanity.

Personality: I, the personality, am a point of light in a 3D world, within a greater light which is the soul.

Soul Extension: I, the soul extension, am a point of light within a greater light, my family of 12 soul extensions.

Soul: I, the soul, am a point of light within a greater light, the monad

Monad: I, the monad, am a point of light within a greater light, god/source.

I put this into a diagram to help visualise these circles of light:

Have a ponder to see what insights you receive from this statement...

The Violet Flame

The violet flame forgives as it frees, consumes as it transmutes, clears the records of past karma (thus balancing your debts to life), equalises the flow of energy between yourself and other lifestreams, and propels you into the arms of the living God – El Morya

The violet flame is the essence of the seventh ray.  When you invoke it, it descends as a beam of spiritual energy and bursts into a spiritual flame in your heart as the qualities of mercy, forgiveness, justice, freedom and transmutation.  Saint Germain is the Lord of the Seventh Ray, and the violet flame is his gift to humanity.

The violet flame works on the subtle bodies by changing the rate of their vibration.  When our physical body and energetic system become clogged by negative energy and karma, it slows down the vibration of the electrons in our four lower bodies.  We then begin to resonate more with negativity, and eventually we become ill.

The violet flame transmutes anything negative that is lodged anywhere in your physical or subtle being.  This can include everything from thought patterns to physical viruses.  When the violet flame goes to work it passes through the clogged spaces between the electrons and the nuclei.  It ejects these particles of dense substance from the body and dissolves them.  This process transmutes the negative energy into positive energy and restores it to its native purity.  The energy of the Seventh Ray is about transmutation of freedom.

The violet flame works like soap getting dirt out of your clothes by using the positive and negative charges of the atoms.  When we invoke the violet flame, it sets up a polarity between the nucleus of the atom and the white-fire core of the flame.  This nucleus, being matter, assumes the negative pole while the white-fire core of the violet flame, being Spirit, assumes the positive pole.  The interaction between the nucleus of the atom and the light in the violet flame establishes an oscillation.  This oscillation dislodges the densities that are trapped between the electrons orbiting the nucleus.  As this hardened substance that weighs down the atom is loosened, it is thrown into the violet flame and carried away.  The violet flame transforms it into pure light energy.  Freed of this debris, the electrons begin to move more freely, thus raising our vibration and light quotient and re-establishing balance and harmony.

Using the Violet Flame in Healing

 *      You can visualise the violet flame as a violet fire in front of you.  Take out a section of the flame with your hand and see the flame hovering in the palm of your hand.  Put the flame into the energy field of yourself or your client and see the violet flame spreading in the subtle bodies so that it permeates the entire energy field.  Use the intention that the violet flame transmutes anything not serving the person in their highest and best good into white light.  See the energy field turning from violet to white light when this is done.

*       At the end of a healing session, surround the client with pentagrams.  Bring in the violet flame and see their energy field filled with the violet flame.  See this turn to white light.

*       Ask for St Germain to bring forth the violet flame to transmute any negativity and negative patterns into white light.

*      Send the violet flame to any areas of the body which have a physical disturbance.  See the part of the body surrounded by violet fire, and also direct the flame to the cause of the disturbance.

Other uses for the Violet Flame

*       Ask St Germain to bring forth the violet flame to make food of its highest atomic structure possible.  See the violet flame on your food turning to white light.

*       Surround yourself with the violet flame for protection.  See it filling your energy field with violet.

*       Use violet flame decrees to bring the violet flame into your body and your life situations.  Examples are:

I AM a being of violet fire! I AM the purity God desires!

I AM the violet flame
In action in me now
I AM the violet flame
To Light alone I bow
I AM the violet flame
In mighty cosmic power
I AM the light of God
Shining every hour
I AM the violet flame
Blazing like a sun
I AM God's sacred power

Your thoughts create your reality...

The fact that your thoughts create your reality can be a difficult one for people to come to terms with.  Once you accept this, you have to take responsibility for yourself, for your life, and for your part in things.  It no longer allows you to play the victim.  How can you be a victim if you created the situation in the first place?  Some people thrive from the drama and the sympathy that can be gained by being the victim.  It is an easy way to live as it’s not your fault, you are the wronged party and you accept no responsibility for yourself whatsoever.  This serves no purpose for soul growth and is actually disempowering to us as human beings.

Once you realise you are the creator of your reality to can take charge of the situation.  If you don’t like it you can change it; change your thinking, change your attitude.  You can take charge of your thoughts and be more mindful of them, trying to encourage positive thoughts, and cancelling out the negative ones.  It allows you to take responsibility of your situation.  If you don’t like it, don’t create it (or if you have created it, see the bigger picture and the opportunity).  We need to be creating from our higher mind, from the place of soul, and not be consumed in the limitations and fear created by the lower mind.

This follows on from my post about contracts and looking for the gift and opportunity in situations, and taking responsibility for our part in things.  Our soul draws to us the people, places and situations we need to master ourselves.  Everything is carefully co-ordinated.  We need to realise that and take up the opportunity we have been presented with for our growth.  Our soul doesn’t care if we don’t, it will just quietly wait for the next moment when it can present us with the opportunity again.  It may be in a different guise, but the lesson outcome will be the same.  So, when you look at things from that perspective, it makes you want to roll your sleeves up and just jump in and get on with it.  If we ignore things, they will just come around again, more magnified the next time.

You may be wanting an example of just how thoughts can create our reality.  How can we see this simply in practice in the world?  Take for instance a woman who is insecure in her relationship and she is fearful that her husband will have an affair.  She will keep thinking ‘he’s having an affair’, ‘he’s going to have an affair’, she will be re-affirming this thought again and again.  This will have an impact on the husband who will then eventually have an affair due to the broken relationship, leading the woman to easily slip into the victim role, and congratulate herself that she knew all along that he’d have an affair.  Not of course realising that it was a self-fulfilling prophecy!

Another example could be with your health.  You have a twinge of pain somewhere.  Instead of realising that this is a message from your body, or something naturally working its way through your system, you immediately panic.  You are sure it is something bad, you fret about it, and keep putting your thoughts and energy to the body part and before you know it, you have manifested the illness you have been fretting about, the illness you created with your thoughts.

So how do we keep our thoughts constructive?  Try not to indulge in negative thinking, in thoughts that could be harmful towards yourself and others, and in gossip.  It’s not as easy as it sounds, and it does take a lot of practice.  Be gentle with yourself if you do slip up.  If you notice any ‘bad’ thoughts that will be creating negative situations for you, just pull yourself up, think ‘cancel’, and mentally say to yourself that you ‘wish to undo the effects of that thought in all dimensions and directions of time’.  That will allow you to negate the thought and reel it back in before it is sent out to the universe to come back to you in manifested form.

Remember, energy follows thought, so choose your thoughts wisely.  They are the most powerful tools you have!

The soul is eternal, the body is transient

“Most men do not as yet distinguish with accuracy between themselves as the THINKER, persistent in time and space, and the vehicle through which they think, which is ephemeral and transient” Alice A Bailey – Treatise on Cosmic Fire

Ponder on this statement.  Our body, the physical part of us in this incarnation, is the vehicle for the soul.  Imagine a car.  The car is the vehicle, but by itself it goes nowhere.  It has the potential, and the means by which to do so, but it requires a driver to be the guiding force and steer the car where it needs to go.  The same applies with the soul and the physical body/personality self.  The physical body is the vehicle, and it has the potential and means by which to go around in this 3D world, but it needs the soul, the ‘thinker’ to be the driving force.
This body is just a jacket for the more eternal part of yourself.  Anyone who has witnessed the passing of a loved one will know that once the moment of death occurs, whatever spark that animated that loved one and made them who they are has been extinguished, and you are just left with the shell, the vehicle that housed that spark.  That spark is soul.

Lifetime to lifetime we work on our lessons and master aspects of ourself which are stored in the causal rings of the monad, and this information, these gifts, are there for the soul to draw upon to feed to its current incarnation.  I like also to think of a puppet.  The personality is the puppet and the soul is the puppet master.  We need to allow the soul to be the guider of our actions and thoughts, as that is who we really are.  This body of ours, this incarnation, will come to an end at some point, but that is not the end of us.  We are soul, we are eternal.

Contracts

Before we come into incarnation, we meet with the karmic board and decide what lessons need to be learnt in the coming lifetime, and what situations and opportunities will allow us to master those lessons.  We choose the parents which will give us great learning and mastering opportunities.  We make contracts with other people for them to come into our lives and play a part so that we are given an opportunity to master a lesson which we have decided we need to learn.  Whether or not we take up the opportunity, or recognise it as an opportunity is another matter!

Bearing this in mind, we have to look at everything from the bigger perspective.  When we are stuck in the middle of a personality drama, it can be hard to recognise the gift and learning opportunity in an experience.  If someone has just done something seemingly terrible to us, our personality can go on a wobble and play the victim.  We can then experience issues such as unresolved anger.  We are the wronged party, we didn’t deserve that to happen to us etc etc.  However, if we look at it from the bigger perspective, that person has made a contract to come into our life to carry out the said deed, and within that comes a great gift of us being able to forgive the person.  How can we experience forgiveness without something to forgive?

There could be other qualities and lessons that we need to master.  Do we need to be loving, do we need to be nurturing, do we need to be selfless, do we need to be giving?  In order to experience anything we require people to come into our life to act out their part of the contract and provide us with the opportunity for growth.  We too, play our part in the lives of others.

So next time you are wrestling with the effects other people have on you, try and see the bigger picture of what is going on and see the gift and learning opportunity in the experience.  It is better to try and get to grips with something and master it rather than being consumed by the personality.  If at first we don’t get it, the soul will try, try again!

"We have both been All Of It. We have been the Up and the Down of it, the Left and the Right of it. We have been the Here and the There of it, the Now and the Then of it. We have been the male and the female, the good and the bad; we have both been the victim and the villain of it."

"Thus have we come together, you and I, many times before; each bringing to the other the exact and perfect opportunity to Express and to Experience Who We Really Are.”

– The Little Soul and the Sun, Neale Donald Walsch

Jealousy

“Don’t waste your time on jealousy.  Sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind, the race is long and in the end, it is only with yourself” – Mary Schmich

I love this quote.  Mary Schmich wrote it as part of some advice to a class of graduates in 1999.  It was popularised in a song called ‘Everybody’s Free to Wear Sunscreen’.  If you haven’t come across it, I recommend a read – there is some wonderful advice in her words.

Jealousy is an interesting concept.  We live in a very material world where jealousy seems to be bred into us at a young age.  We even have the well-known couple – The Jones’ to keep up with!  But jealousy extends far beyond material possessions.  We can be jealous of others for non-physical reasons – even down to being jealous of someone in a spiritual sense – they seem more ‘enlightened’, they meditate more, they seem to have better intuition etc. etc. the list can be endless.

I feel Mary has it right though – the race is long and in the end it is only with yourself.  We need to learn not to compare ourselves to others and what they’re doing, what they have etc. etc.  We need to be centred in ourself and follow what is fulfilling and nurturing to us alone and not even entertain what others are doing , or how what we are doing may seem to them.  By standing in the self, it will remove you from the glamour and competitiveness in the world, and that in turn will allow others to free themselves of it too.

When we choose to live our life as soul, and to follow our soul guidance, everything will be in perfect balance and timing for us to master our lessons with grace and ease.  We will have exactly what we need in the moment we need it.  Therefore jealousy is taken out of the equation.  We are each on our own unique soul journey, so why should we worry about what anyone else is getting up to or what they have?  Our journey, our experience, is perfect for us, right here, right in this moment, in this time and space which we call now; and as every moment is ‘now’, everything is always perfect, isn’t it?!?

Please Put On Your Own Oxygen Mask Before Helping Others

OK, so we’re not on an airplane, but we are on a journey.  I’m using this analogy to demonstrate that we need to make sure we do our own work as well as helping others.  We need to be taking care of ourselves, our own needs and our own journey otherwise how are we going to have anything to give to another?

Imagine the oxygen mask as being your connection to soul.  We need to make that connection within ourselves, and then move from that point outwards to meet others on a soul-to-soul equal level.  From this place we can act from a place of compassion and detachment rather than sympathy and attachment.  This helps lift another out of the space they are in, rather than meeting them down in the hole and helping to keep them there.

I love this quote by Alan Cohen:  “You can be helping many people, but if you are not helping yourself, you have missed the one person you were born to heal”.

It is more appealing to many people to be helping others.  Don’t get me wrong, helping others is a good thing, we are designed to be here in loving service to others.  However, helping others shouldn’t be a replacement or a distraction from doing our own work.  That is our main mission here.  We need to be focusing on our own issues and lessons and sorting them out and then move on to helping others with their problems.  This is what loving service is.

Another well-used saying is “physician heal thyself”.  How can you help another if your battery is drained so flat that there is no charge to help jump-start another person?  If you keep neglecting yourself and helping person after person, soon you will have nothing left in you to be able to help yourself or them.  So, close your eyes, take a slow, deep, centring breath, and connect to your soul.  See the line of light coming down from the plane of the soul and entering through your crown and anchoring in your heart centre.  Feel that still, quiet space within.  Just look, see what it is that you need to be working on for you right now.  That is your oxygen mask.  Please put it on before helping others....

The soul and the monad

I’d like to talk a little about the soul and the monad.  This picture is called the ‘chart of the divine self’ and is sold by The Summit Lighthouse (www.tsl.org)  It can be useful to visualise this picture as we talk about the communication channel between the soul extension (personality), the soul and the monad.

God/source/creator (however you feel comfortable terming this) wanted to send its light out into the 3rd dimensional world, the earth.  So it sent out sparks known as monads or spirits.  This is our I AM presence and is our god-self.  There are an infinite number of monads.  In the picture above you will see the monad at the top of the picture, surrounded by the causal rings.  These are the store house of everything we have ever experienced and mastered in all of our lifetimes.

In order to be able to experience incarnation in a 3rd dimensional, low vibratory world, the monadic energy had to be slowed down.  Otherwise it would be like trying to plug the light bulb in our house directly into the power station creating electricity.  It would explode.  Therefore the electricity needs to be stepped down and converted before it reaches our house and the fitting we can plug the bulb into.  Our soul (the white middle figure in the picture) was created as the individual aspect of us that is in permanent contact with the monad and creator.  It is the mediator between our personality self and our spiritual god-self.  Each monad has 12 souls attached to it, and each of those souls has 12 soul extensions attached. Our intuition is information from our soul dropping into our conscious mind.  Of course, we can choose to ignore our soul and live only from the personality and ego self.

The energy should flow from god/source, through our monad, through our soul and then come into our energy field and into the heart centre.  When we have this clear communication channel, we experience flow in our life and are in tune with our soul’s purpose.

The information exchange is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle.  The monad has the full picture of where we have been and where we are going.  The soul has part of the picture, and attracts to us the people and situations we need for us to master our lessons and evolve spiritually on our path.  Our personality self, on its own is almost fumbling around in the dark, it cannot see the bigger picture as it is not illumined.  We need to connect in with our soul so that we can merge with it and start living from the place of the soul.  We need to master our lower bodies for the soul to fully be able to integrate with our physical body.

It is easy to picture the god/source - monad - soul - soul extension progression in this picture:

In this way you will clearly see that you, as an individual soul extension, in incarnation upon the earth, have 11 other members in your soul family, and 143 other members in your monadic family.  Every time you are working on mastering a spiritual lesson, you are not only affecting yourself, you are also affecting the other members of your soul family and monadic family.  You are never alone!

Seed Thoughts

A seed thought is just what it says, a seed or a kernel, which, under the right circumstances has the potential to unlock all the hidden treasures within and blossom forth into something greater than itself.  Within the smallest seed lies the potential for great things.

A seed thought is a few words or a sentence which is taken into meditation, reflected upon within the light of the soul, and then unlocked for our soul to pour forth the contained wisdom back into our lower mind.
The wisdom contained in a seed thought is not necessarily to be unlocked in one moment of blinding inspiration, a eureka! or a-ha! Moment (though this is not impossible) but rather one will find that with consistent effort in consecutive meditation sessions, another piece of the puzzle will unfold, another facet will be glimpsed and another layer of the wisdom discovered.  Much like peeling back the layers of an onion, each occasion of effort will reveal the next level of understanding and insight.

Much like "the will of the soul is my will" is a seed thought to ponder and reflect on, try this one: "I am the soul, the soul am I".  Take this thought into meditation every day and see the layers of wisdom unfold.  This one is quite a powerful seed thought and you might be surprised at what gets revealed.  I was!

Discipline – the personality struggle

In esoteric circles, the word ‘disciple’ is used for the aspirant on the spiritual path.  This is not used in the religious context, but rather in the ‘follower of a school of thought’ definition1.  The word disciple conveys just what is needed – discipline.  In order to progress on our spiritual path and to master the three lower bodies (etheric, emotional and mental) we need a huge amount of discipline.  In order to follow the path of soul and progress with ascension and the mastery of our lessons, we need to be disciplined in thought and action.  This can prove to be one of our biggest struggles as the personality will rebel against it.  In order to ascend and achieve a soul-merge, the personality has to step aside and eventually be dissolved.  Why therefore, would it want to allow us to get rid of it?  So it puts up a fight, it allows us to be consumed by it, and to be distracted from our spiritual path.  Meditation is key to our spiritual advancement.  In this matter, Djwhal Khul through Alice Bailey is quoted as saying:  “may it not be truly said, if any one claims not to be able to find fifteen minutes out of the one thousand four hundred and forty minutes which constitute a day, that they are not interested? Fifteen minutes can always be found, if the will is on the side of the effort”.2

In what ways are you letting your personality –self distract you from your path?  Try to see if you can find 15 minutes to make some soul contact today.  This mantra may help: THE WILL OF THE SOUL IS MY WILL.

To Inspire

On the way home I was thinking about inspiration.  What is it to inspire another?  The Oxford online dictionary defines it as thus:  “fill (someone) with the urge or ability to do or feel something, especially to do something creative: his philosophy inspired a later generation of environmentalists”

We all know what it is to be inspired by another.  We are caught by their enthusiasm, their passion for a subject and that is passed on to us.  We have that spark ignited within us which fires us up and makes us want to discover and experience it for ourselves.  Inspiration is a spark which is passed from one person to another.  We are each like a lit candle.  A candle doesn’t lose any light by lighting another candle.  Let your light shine forth – others will see it and be lit from within.

Marianne Williamson has said “your playing small does not serve the world.  There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.  We are all meant to shine as children do”.

So shine your light.  Inspire and be inspired and follow the path of your soul.  Others will see your light and remember the light within themselves.

Know Thyself

"Know thyself, for in thyself is to be found all that there is to be known" - old injunction quoted in Alice Bailey's 'The Consciousness of the Atom'

There is so much in this statement.  It really focuses the thought that we need to get out of the Piscean energy of looking outside of ourself for answers.  We need to make soul connection and go inwards for our answers.  This is the essence of esoteric work.  Within us we will find all the answers to everything.  Without knowing ourself, how can we extend ourself out in service to others?  Even reading books etc is just reawakening knowledge and information which is already stored within us.  How do we know something to be our truth?  Why do some things resonate with us and yet others don't?  This is because we already know the answers, and these encounters with information just re-alight what is already inside of us.

So endeavour to know thyself.  It is the most valuable investment you will ever make.
